LOTR: Legolas Knives
The Legolas knives as depicted in the Lord of the Rings movies
are somewhat shorter than a normal sword and somewhat longer than a dagger.
As such, they fill a unique niche in battle and transform Legolas from an
Elf with a deadly aim with a bow, to an effective warrior in hand-to-hand
combat. Although not specifically mentioned as daring
amazing feats in battle in the books as depicted in the Lord of the Rings
movies, Legolas nevertheless, uses the Legolas knives or daggers in a plausible
display of warrior capabilities.
The Legolas knives or daggers are similar to Hadhafang with it’s
beautifully slender blade and Katana like curvature. Like
other Elvish weapons, the Legolas knives are absent of the ‘cross-guard’ which
forms a cross-like structure at the hilt, intended to maintain the position of
the hand so that it does not slide down, during thrusting actions.
And like other Elvish weapons, contain the beautiful
decorations that are reminiscent of Celtic patterns. The
handle is what appears to be either a hard-wood or polished antler design.
The Legolas knives are beautiful in their appearance.
They are large enough that they cannot be simply be dismissed as “just
another knife”. The fact that this unique set of knives also
comes in a set with such impressive pattern inscriptions coupled with the unique
curvature of the blade, make this an absolutely perfect gift for the blad
enthusiast. These will surely be one of the priceless
possessions that draws attention to any passerby.
